The Nets fired head coach Jacque Vaughn on Monday, leading Gio and Jerry to wonder which of the seemingly endless New York coaching casualties in the last decade proved to be the worst of them all.
Both had their own candidates, but both seemed to settle on the same pick.
“I think the easy answer is Mickey Callaway, because of the way the press conference went, because of the way it ended, because of what happened in his personal life,” Jerry said. “If I went beyond that, embarrassing in terms of just not being good and how they carried themselves...Adam Gase, with the crazy eyes.”
Gio also settled on the failed Jets head coach, with a sleeper pick from the Knicks’ dark days.
“I’ve got three. Callaway and Gase, and then my sneaky one is David Fizdale,” Gio said. “David Fizdale came in with a lot of hype and positivity…he comes here, and the team, they were so bad. They quit on him, they basically said the practices weren’t even being run, there was no strategy, it was so bad. But I think the answer has to be Adam Gase.”
