After hearing the widespread criticism about the NBA All-Star Game, then seeing the subsequent ratings that were released, Gio is convinced that the complaints about the event are manufactured by those with nothing else to talk about.
"The same thing happens every year. The same thing happens with the MLB All-Star Game," Gio said. "There's nothing happening in sports at the time of the MLB and NBA All-Star Game…they have to talk about it, so it turns into 'It's not what it used to be,' and people pretend to care about it.
"I firmly believe that most talk show hosts in the business do not give a rat's ass about the MLB or NBA All-Star Games, and they are faking their way through these shows because there's nothing else going on."
Ratings were up for the NBA All-Star Game, despite many slamming the absence of defense after the Eastern Conference poured in a record 211 points. But Gio says if there were anything else for sports personalities to talk about, you wouldn't hear nearly as many complaints.
"It's been this way for years…it's an exhibition, and it's for kids!" Gio said.
"I guarantee you half the people who complain about the game, if they ended up going to All-Star weekend and enjoyed everything around it and ended up going to the game…they'd enjoy it too."
