Gio: Are former women's basketball stars 'jealous' of Caitlin Clark's level of stardom?
Former UConn and current WNBA legend Diana Taurasi surprised some on ESPN's alternate broadcast of the women's national championship when she quickly declared that she would take Huskies star Paige Bueckers over Caitlin Clark in the upcoming draft.
Fans couldn't believe the response, and Gio couldn't comprehend why a former college star would dismiss the greatest scorer in the history of the sport, even if Bueckers has UConn ties.
"I don't understand why. Is it a jealousy thing?" Gio said. "The fact that Caitlin Clark was the person to put women's college basketball in a place it had never been in, and they weren't able to do it with their greatness, so they resent her? I don't understand it."
Regardless of what other WNBA or college stars think of Clark, Boomer says the likely future No. 1 pick's talent and ability is undeniable and otherworldly.
"She sees the basketball court like Larry Bird saw the basketball court…very few people see their sport the way the real, true superstars see the sport," Boomer said.
"Her legacy will stand the test of time as one of, if not the single greatest women's college basketball player of all time."
