The Phillies will be fighting for their playoff lives in game seven on Tuesday night, and Gio is praying that their ride toward a second straight pennant comes to an end.
"I desperately want this Phillies thing to die the worst death possible tonight," Gio said.
Losing to the out-of-nowhere Diamondbacks after holding a 3-2 series lead would be a suitable death that Gio is hoping for, though it also offers him a sobering reality as a fan, as his Mets are sitting at home watching the NLCS.
"I hate the fact that I have to be this guy," Gio said. "But with these New York teams and the way this baseball season went, you just have to turn into a hater to have fun."
