Gio made the mistake once again of betting against Patrick Mahomes, and after he took down the Ravens to advance to another Super Bowl on Sunday, Gio had to give the star quarterback his due.
“You’ve got the best player in the game right now, the undisputed king of the NFL that is impossible to topple,” Gio said. “It’s happened before, Tom Brady did it and Joe Burrow did it in an AFC Championship game, but other than that, he owns everybody.”
Gio says the other stars on the Chiefs should thank Mahomes for their current status, as they wouldn’t be there without his greatness.
“I know it’s not just one player who does it…but there are two people who are now in the elite, legendary, immortal status because Patrick Mahomes came along, and that is Andy Reid and Travis Kelce,” Gio said. “They are great in their own right, but Patrick Mahomes made those guys - we’re talking about the most productive tight end in history, and now Andy Reid, who is in that conversation if he wins another Super Bowl as a top three coach in the history of the game.
“Patrick Mahomes is so great, that he has elevated great to immortal. He has lifted those guys into a stratosphere that they would have never gotten to on their own.”
