Gio is pumped up for the football season in New York, but nothing would sour that anticipation more than the Jets or Giants making a move for the recently released DeAndre Hopkins.
“I can’t remember being this excited about football around here in June in a very, very long time, if not ever,” Gio said. “He better not be here in New York…DeAndre Hopkins is the James Harden of the NFL. Don’t bring him here. Don’t do it. Things are going so well, and that guy would ruin it.
“Neither one of these teams need DeAndre Hopkins. I don’t think either team could afford him…I would think maybe Buffalo, obviously Cleveland with Deshaun Watson, are probably going to be the front runners for his services.”
Hopkins was let go by the Cardinals, and while both the Jets and Giants were asked about potentially signing the former star wide receiver, Boomer doesn’t think Gio needs to worry about either team potentially adding him.
“Every team does their due diligence,” Boomer said. “They don’t want to insult any player, and they want to do right by the fanbase and don’t get the fanbase too high on signing somebody like this, but I really don’t see the Giants being able to afford him, and I don’t see the Jets having room for him.”
