Tiki and Tierney producer Pete Hoffman says he would willingly swap front offices with the Yankees, and thinks his Mets would be better off for it.
"If Steve Cohen announced today that he's making a major trade with Hal Steinbrenner, and they're switching teams, and Steinbrenner is bringing Cashman over with him to the Mets, I'd be into that," Pete said, seemingly more than willing to sacrifice Steve Cohen's robust spending habits if it meant parting ways with general manager Billy Eppler.
BT was surprised, to say the least, especially that a fan of another team would laud Cashman in that way.
"Be my guest. Have him," BT said. "Take him. He's yours…you would want to lose Cohen of an owner and have Hal assume Cohen's reign, viewing Cashman as that type of asset?
"What has he built himself?"
Hoff's response? Cashman has built himself a consistent playoff team that always gives itself a chance to make a run to a title.
"He has built himself a consistent winner in the regular season and gives you an opportunity in the playoffs to at least get there and maybe win a World Series," Hoff said. "Has he built a World Series team? No, but those are difficult to build."
