Did Gio drunk dial Islanders owner Jon Ledecky to wish him luck in playoffs?
As the Islanders look to even up their series with the Hurricanes on Monday night, Gio told the story of drunk dialing Isles owner Jon Ledecky before their series opener over the weekend.
While at happy hour with an Islanders fan on Friday, Gio regretfully called Ledecky to wish him luck in the team's opening series against Carolina.
"I might have called John Ledecky on Friday afternoon on a whim," Gio said. "It's Friday.
My Friday afternoon is like the height of the happiness. I was talking to a die-hard Islander fan…and I said 'You know what, screw it. I'm gonna call.'
"Of course, a few hours later, I'm like 'What the hell did I just do?'"
Gio then got a text from Ledecky's assistant, who said he and Ledecky got a good chuckle out of the exchange.
"When you got off the phone, I turned to John, and I said, 'I think we just got happy hour Gio.'" Gio said of the message from Ledecky's assistant, Jay.
