The New York Islanders announced Monday that they have dealt defenseman Devon Toews to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for second-round picks in the 2021 and 2022 NHL Drafts.
Toews, 26, played 68 games for the Isles this season, registering six goals and 22 assists and posting a plus-minus of plus-1. He also appeared in 22 playoff tilts, scoring two goals and notching eight assists.
The British Columbia native was the Islanders’ fourth-round pick (No. 104 overall) in 2016 out of Quinnipiac, and he played parts of three seasons with Bridgeport of the AHL before making his NHL debut in 2018-19. As a rookie, he notched six goals and 17 assists in 56 total games between the regular season and postseason.
