Ryan Pulock may have just saved the Islanders from a 3-1 series deficit.
After a 3-0 cushion quickly shriveled to a 3-2 lead in the third period of a crucial game four, the Lightning put on the pressure in the final seconds of play, looking to force overtime and potentially win their third straight game of the series. Ryan McDonagh moved in with five seconds to go, pulled off a nifty spin move to fool Semyon Varlamov in net, and tossed a backhander toward a wide open net with less than three seconds on the clock.
Well, it was wide open before Pulock came sliding across from the far side, fell to one knee and blocked the shot on his own, carefully playing it away to seal the win.
Instead of heading to overtime after coughing up a three-goal lead, the Islanders instead won their third straight game four to even the series so far this postseason, as the Eastern Conference Finals is now a best of three heading back to Tampa Bay.
