Jerry & Willie: Top NFL teams showing just how far off Jets, Giants are right now
After watching the Packers roll over the Saints on Monday night, and seeing several other playoff teams in action on Sunday, Jerry Recco says it has become glaring just how far the Jets and Giants have to go to get to the level of the top squads in the NFL.
"My God, how far away these teams are," Jerry said. "Watching the Packers, they were like a well-oiled machine last night.
"Eagles/Commanders game on Sunday, on a greater scale, it made me think that these teams are light years away from the top teams I the NFL. It's almost like we're watching a different sport."
For the Jets specifically, Willie Colon doesn't understand how they have struggled so much when they have the personnel on offense, while teams like Jordan Love and the Packers light it up in a lopsided shutout win.
"When you look at the Jets on paper, they should be that type of offense," Colon said. "You're saying to yourself, 'Why aren't we playing that brand of football?'"
Jerry believed the Jets would have that winning brand of offense this season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers, but instead, it has turned into a slog that is difficult to watch.
"Why is it when I watch the Jets on offense, they're playing 11 on 15?" Jerry said. "And yet, I watch other teams running in space where it's pitch and catch, and everything is easy? It just seems like it's harder for them.
"The execution on offense, the big-play ability, neither team seems to have it."
