Jets, Giants learn new matchups after NFL announces 17-game schedule starting in 2021

The NFL officially announced the adoption of a 17-game regular season schedule beginning this year, and the extra game for each team has already been set.

In addition to their previously set schedules for the upcoming season, the Giants' extra game will be a road tilt with the Dolphins, while the Jets will welcome the Eagles in their added contest.

The Giants last played Miami in December of 2019, a home game that ended in an easy 36-20 win between two 3-11 teams. Of course, the Dolphins have improved since then in their rebuild process under Brian Flores, finishing 10-6 and second in the AFC East.

New York plays AFC West opponents in the rest of its out-of-conference slate this season.

The Jets last played Philadelphia early in the 2019 season, suffering a 31-6 blowout loss to drop to 0-4 at the time. Carson Wentz was the starting quarterback for the Eagles, but Gang Green will see a new face this time after Wentz was traded to the Colts. The Jets other NFC opponents come from the NFC South this season.

The full schedules and start times are expected to be announced in April.
