Aaron Rodgers calls out teammates for sideline scuffles: 'Just need to grow up a little bit'

Aaron Rodgers, on his weekly spot on the Pat McAfee Show, said he wants to see his Jets teammates cut out the sideline scuffles that were seen during Sunday’s loss to the Patriots.

“There’s been too many little side conversations,” Rodgers said. “We just need to grow up a little bit on offense and lock in and do our jobs, and not point fingers at each other…don’t point fingers at the coaching staff. Don’t point fingers at each other.

“I feel like if I was there, some of those things wouldn’t be happening. Not sure we’d be 3-0, I’d like to think there’s a possibility of that, but it’s more of the side stuff that I don’t like. I want to see us stick together through the tough times.”

Michael Carter had to be pulled back after getting in the face of his running backs coach, and Garrett Wilson looked frustrated when talking with Zach Wilson over an iPad on the sidelines on Sunday, when the offense managed 10 points. Clearly, Rodgers wasn’t a fan of the internal discourse, and wants to see the team rally around each other.

“We’re 1-2. Been a couple rough ones. Defense, we played good enough to win that game, for sure. At home, defense giving up 15 points, we gotta win that game,” Rodgers said. “But let’s stay behind our guys. Let’s stick with our guys and have a little belief. As we saw this week, anybody can beat anybody.

“I’d like to see everybody stick together. Our fanbase, our former players, and our current players. Too much negativity, and the world is crashing down after three weeks. It’s a long season. There’s a lot of time, and a lot of things can happen. Let’s just take a couple breaths.”

“The team was 1-2 last year and went on a really good run and turned things around. Came into Lambeau and beat the hell out of us, and obviously struggled down the stretch. This is what teams have to go through. There are adversity points in every season. This year, it’s happening early…there are some heated conversations on the sideline and different things. I think we need to hold our poise a little better, really just offensively. We have to have some of those things not happen on the sideline and be a little better, and be better competitors.”
