The lights went out on one side of Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium during Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game between the Jets and the Browns, causing a delay of nearly 15 minutes.
The highlight of the delay came courtesy of Aaron Rodgers, who was caught by NBC cameras sitting on the Jets sideline in the dark, leading to all kinds of jokes about another darkness retreat.
Rodgers famously went on a darkness retreat after last season, which he said would help him ponder his future. He told reporters he went into the retreat as much as 90 percent leaning towards retirement, but when he emerged, he wound up with Gang Green.
The lights weren’t the only problem at the stadium on Thursday, as NFL insider Mike Florio reports that the showers weren’t working after the game due to the electrical issue that caused the lights to go out.
The showers seemed to only impact the Browns, as Florio reports some players having to wash themselves in cold tubs.
The Browns won the game 21-16.
