Aaron Rodgers on Giants next season? Keith says it's not as crazy as you think
Keith McPherson wasn’t buying Aaron Rodgers’ denials about reports of him wanting to continue playing football, just not with the Jets.
Rodgers made his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and raved about his time in New Jersey, even if the results on the field have been miserable. Keith wasn’t believing it for a second.
“You gotta read between the lines a little bit. ‘See what happens.’ Sure,” Keith said. “He can’t be back next year. He can’t.”
Keith has maintained that Rodgers shouldn’t return to the Jets after this season, but what if he made the short trip over to the Giants facility? If Rodgers loves the area so much, what if Big Blue took a flier on the future Hall of Famer as a potential bridge to their next quarterback of the future? Keith says it’s not an outlandish scenario.
“The Giants theory is not that crazy,” Keith said. “Let’s say Schoen and Daboll are back. Let’s say Shedeur Sanders gets drafted by the Raiders. Let’s say they do win some games and end up picking sixth again. Let’s say Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are off the board. What do you do with that pick? Trade, get some more picks to draft your own players...and you know Giants fans are hoping for Arch Manning in 2026. So Aaron Rodgers can be the bridge to 2026, you figure out a way to trade up in 2026 to get Arch Manning in 2026.
“Wow, that sounds like a plan.”
If the Giants do continue to lose and draft a top quarterback like Sanders, could they see Rodgers as a potential veteran to guide the promising rookie in what would be his last go as an NFL quarterback? If they miss out on a top pick, could things unfold just as Keith laid out? It would be quite the story, but a lot would have to happen on both sides to make it a reality.
