According to NFL Network’s Mike Girardi, Gase’s name “Keeps popping up” as a possible candidate to take the Patriots offensive coordinator job. Gase already has plenty of experience in the AFC East as head coach of the Dolphins and Gang Green, both of which didn’t result in success. But he did make a name for himself during his days as an offensive coordinator, leading an efficient Broncos offense with quarterback Peyton Manning before spending a year as the Bears offensive coordinator.

Gase of course quickly imploded as Gang Green’s head coach, kicking things off with a wide-eyed introductory press conference that spread all over social media before finishing 7-9 in his first year, then dropping all the way down to a 2-14 finish in his second and final season in 2020.

New England could still bring in Bill O’Brien, the current Alabama offensive coordinator, but Bill Belichick has seen Gase up-close as divisional rivals, and could bring him in if O’Brien stays at Alabama.
