Aaron Rodgers is now targeting his birthday, Dec. 2, on a date he can return to practice for the Jets, as he continues to strive for an unprecedented recovery from Achilles surgery.
Boomer and Gio don’t like the idea at all, and while they respect the drive and the confidence, they can’t help but feel like Rodgers rushing back and potentially reinjuring himself would be peak Jets.
“This just tells me that he is in control of all of this, like we’ve been saying this entire time,” Gio said. “You think this season has been typical Jets? If he comes back too early and busts up his leg even worse, and can’t play ever for the Jets, that’s really the Jets. I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but pipe down about the rehab stuff, and we’ll see you next year in August.”
Boomer has maintained for weeks that Rodgers is likely better off sitting out the rest of the season, and is worried that if he comes back too soon, he is opening himself up to potentially further injuring his Achilles, which could mean the end of his career as he approaches 40 years old.
“If he rushes this back and tries to do something nobody’s ever done before, I think that would be the most Jets thing ever,” Boomer said. “Him blowing it out again in a meaningless season, because that’s where this season is headed.”
