Haason Reddick has requested a trade from the Jets, and Boomer wonders if he could headline a trade that could bring longtime Aaron Rodgers target Davante Adams to New York.
Boomer has long surmised that Adams could be dealt to the Jets, even with Adams publicly stating that he is focused on winning with the Raiders, and with his agent shutting down rumors of a trade. Despite all that, Boomer still believes Adams wants to be dealt somewhere where he has a real shot at winning.
“He’ll never say it publicly, but are you gonna sit here and tell me that he’s happy playing in Vegas right now after what he was promised originally?” Boomer said. “Do you think a Hall of Fame wide receiver…wants to play in Vegas under those circumstances, where he knows that they don’t have a chance in hell to get to the Super Bowl? And they have an out at the end of his contract after this year.”
Reddick has been a training camp holdout all summer as he seeks a new deal, and Boomer wonders if a Reddick/Adams swap could be in the cards.
“It makes too much sense…look at what the Patriots were willing to give up for Brandon Aiyuk,” Boomer said. “It wasn’t that much. But they were going to have to pay Brandon Aiyuk, and that’s why the compensation isn’t nearly as much as you would think it is, simply because of the contracts involved.”
Gio’s thoughts on that potential trade? It would make for an ugly scoring attack in Vegas.
“That team would suck so bad offensively,” Gio said of the Raiders without Adams. “Josh Jacobs isn’t there any longer.”
