Boomer & Gio: Would Jets loss to Vikings in London put Robert Saleh on hot seat?

After Boomer Esiason speculated that Aaron Rodgers “doesn’t respect” head coach Robert Saleh, Gio wondered if that meant that Saleh could be on the hot seat if Gang Green doesn’t come out with a win next week against the Vikings in London.

“Yes, 100 percent,” Boomer said. ‘The most important relationship on the football field is between the head coach and the quarterback. They have to be on the same page with each other.

“It didn’t look like they spend a lot of time together…I don’t see these guys talking at all. I get the sense that Aaron is annoyed at his head coach.”

Many believed this season would determine Saleh’s future as the Jets head coach, as there would be no excuse for failing with a healthy Rodgers and the talent around him. But Gio was surprised to hear Boomer’s belief that a change could come during the season if things don’t turn around quickly.

“I just find it hard to believe that you would fire a guy midseason,” Gio said. “What would happen? Nate Hackett would be the head coach?”

Simply put, Boomer believes the expectations were sky high heading into the season, and if it seems like another year is going to end without a playoff berth, Joe Douglas and Woody Johnson might look to make a change quickly.

“I think there is a pressure cooker here over in Florham Park. I'm sure a lot of people over there feel it,” Boomer said. “If they continue to lose games like this and comments come out like they were yesterday, I just feel like something will have to be done if they want to save the season.”
