Boomer convinced Aaron Rodgers is playing hurt after watching more tape

As the Jets continue to fall into chaos, having now fired their general manager in addition to their head coach, fans are left wondering how a hyped season went down the tubes so swiftly and dramatically.

For many, it starts at quarterback, where Aaron Rodgers was expected to be the franchise savior and has instead struggled himself, a trend that continued on Sunday where he had a brutal final drive that sealed a loss to the Colts that all but ended their season.

After looking back at that game, and others before it, Boomer Esiason believes Rodgers is playing through an injury that is clearly hampering his ability to produce.

“I’m telling you right now, he’s injured. He’s 100 percent injured,” Boomer said. “I want to say it’s his left leg, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a hamstring.

“You can just tell by the way everything is coming off his back foot. It looks like he’s trying to protect his left leg. I’m sure we’re gonna hear about it eventually.”

Many wondered if Rodgers, now 40 years old, has simply reached the end of the line of his Hall of Fame career, considering his final season with the Packers was underwhelming and his debut season with the Jets was a wash due to Achilles surgery. But Boomer believes Rodgers would have had more to give if he was healthy, but now, he may never get a chance to play in a Jets uniform at full capacity, as he could be the next out the door as ownership continues a drastic makeover.

“I know he’s always been a different kind of guy when he’s throwing, and that he does throw off his back foot quite a bit, but I don’t see him putting a lot of pressure on that front leg,” Boomer said.

“He’s probably fighting through it because of what happened last year.”
