Last week, BT pitched the idea of the Jets calling Carson Wentz to come play quarterback and try to find any kind of improvement over the badly struggling Zach Wilson.
One week later, after another loss and another putrid offensive showing from Wilson, Boomer is still wondering why Wentz hasn’t been called.
“I had an answer. I said this is what I would do or would have done,” Boomer said. “Carson Wentz is out there. Look at his numbers - I know there is a perception of him, and Joe Douglas knows him from his days in Philadelphia - Carson Wentz put up reasonably good numbers, if you look at them.”
Wentz isn’t a particularly inspiring option, but Boomer says there aren’t any inspiring ones out there, and Wentz at least has the potential to manage an offense and make throws past the first down markers.
“I wish I could give you an alternative that would be etched in stone and would help immediately, and there isn’t one,” Boomer said. “That’s why, when you roll the dice and go with a quarterback that is nearly 40 years old, you run the risk of what the Jets have now run into.”
