Boomer: Jets could have balance, explosiveness on offense team hasn't had in nearly a decade

Through the first two games of the season, Boomer Esiason believed that the Jets offense had the potential to be one of the better units in football.

Thursday’s win over the Patriots just upped the stakes on how far this offense could go, especially with the way Aaron Rodgers looked in the 24-3 victory.

“His arm strength looks great, his accuracy looks great, his quick release was spot on, and his movement was a 10,” Boomer said. “I never expected that. I thought the offense line did another great job of pass protection.

“It’s a balanced offense, which you have to appreciate if you’re a Jet fan.”

It was a level of balance that Boomer hadn’t seen in a Jets offense in nearly a decade, not since their last winning season back in 2015.

“You haven’t had this in a long time,” Boomer said. “The last time you had this was probably when Ryan Fitzpatrick was here, when they were able to run the ball and throw the ball down the field on a consistent basis.”

The Jets have a dynamic running back tandem of Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, a stud wideout in Garrett Wilson along with a rejuvenated Allen Lazard, and an offensive line that has looked significantly better than last season’s unit. That, coupled with Rodgers at the helm, makes the Jets a very dangerous scoring attack.

“They were a competent offense. This could be an explosive offense,” Boomer said. “This could be a huge offense that puts up huge numbers when it’s all said and done.”
