Many Jets fans, and even Gio, came away encouraged from Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs thanks to the much-improved play of Zach Wilson, but Boomer says that encouragement needs to start turning into wins, and soon, or else the season will be over.
“This is it. They have to win next week in Denver,” Boomer said. “You can’t continue to lose tight games like this. Quite frankly, for the coaching staff, they gotta start winning, man.”
Of course, there were positives to take away, especially with Wilson, but if the Jets can’t make big plays in big moments, which they didn’t do for the second week in a row, the season will be lost.
“That was certainly encouraging moving forward. His arm strength is there,” Boomer said of Wilson. “I think he finally relaxed…but he still fumbled the snap. That was a crucial point in the game…then you have a couple breakdowns on defense where Patrick Mahomes takes off and runs, and that’s it.”
