Boomer: Jets offense lacks creativity, but don't give up on team just yet

Boomer didn’t like what he saw from the Jets’ offense on Sunday morning, but he says the overly simplistic design is not something that will be going away any time soon.

“They are not very creative at all,” Boomer said. “They line up the way they want to line up, and this is Nathaniel Hackett and Aaron Rodgers. This is the way they want to run it. this is not Ben Johnson, Kyle Shanahan or Mike McDaniel, where guys are moving all over the place pre-snap and there’s a lot of motion going on.

“They want to get out there and line up and Aaron Rodgers wants to read the defense and throw back-shoulder throws the whole game. It’s a very simple way of doing things, but Aaron has been so successful at it, it’s hard to say ‘Hey, we’re gonna change things around, we’re not gonna do that.’”

That type of offense can work when Rodgers is at his best, but right now, he is far from it, throwing three interceptions in Sunday’s loss. Still, Boomer believes Gang Green will stabilize itself and will be in the playoff hunt.

“They’ve only played five games together. I’m not overly concerned about any of it,” Boomer said. “It’s five games.

“If we had to project into the future, one team in the AFC East is gonna make it, and that’s whoever wins the division. They are right in the middle of that fight. This season is not over by any stretch of the imagination. They have a long way to go.”
