Gio doesn’t understand why Robert Saleh won’t simply shut down the idea of Aaron Rodgers returning this season now that the Jets are eliminated from playoff contention, but on Monday, the head coach still left the door open for a return.
Boomer wonders if it has to do with a financial arrangement that Rodgers has with the popular doctor who performed his Achilles surgery, to hype up the procedure and unprecedented recovery time.
“I don’t know what Aaron’s deal is with Dr. Neal ElAttrache. He’s pushing this thing to say he’s coming back,” Boomer said. “I could see him saying ‘If these games meant something, I could play.’ It just means this surgery and this company is off the chats…it feels and smells and looks like a real financial thing for me.
“The amount of time he’s talking about it and spending on the practice field and the amount of time talking about his rehab people, I just feel like there’s some do-re-mi on the other end of the line for this. It just does.”
Rodgers has raved about ElAttrache and the procedure he performed on Rodgers back in September, which has put the 40-year-old on track for a potential return this season, which nobody would have expected after he was injured in Week 1. But the Jets still being in contention was part of the terms of Rodgers’ return, as he said himself, yet the possibility is still out there. Boomer wonders why that would be.
“I don’t have any inside information, nobody is telling me about that, I just have a sneaking suspicion that’s what it’s all about,” Boomer said. “Good for him. If he can make money doing this and keep getting paid without playing, if that’s in fact the case, I wouldn’t be surprised. There’s just too much promotion about it.”
