The Jets offense looked shoddy once again on Sunday, falling to 2-3 on the season after a 23-17 loss to the Vikings in London.
Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions in the defeat, and for the second week in a row, looked pedestrian at best. It was enough for BT and Sal to question whether the Jets will ever get close to their lofty goals with Rodgers under center.
“The quarterback looks awful. Aaron Rodgers looks old and frustrated,” BT said. “Outside of the defense keeping them around, what do you look at with the Jets and say ‘This is a strong suit’?
“Everybody at this point would say the same thing about Robert Saleh. We all know he ain’t it...but the one hope you had, even with that overrated defense...was Aaron Rodgers.”
Instead, the Jets’ great hope seems to be quarterbacking a broken offense, an “archaic” one in the eyes of BT, and he says Gang Green isn’t going anywhere if Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett can’t get with the times.
“The Jets really haven’t played well at all this year,” BT said. “You look at the 49ers game, horrendous. The Titans, if Will Levis was more buttoned up, they lose that game. Patriots, they were definitely crisp, but the Patriots aren’t good. The Broncos game, awful...it shouldn’t be this hard.
“I thought their talent was better. I thought Rodgers was better...right now, they’re a complete joke.”
Sal agrees that the play of Rodgers has to be the team’s main concern right now, even though there seems to be other problems all over the place on the roster, and says the Jets are simply “a freaking mess right now.”
“You can’t function if you can’t run the football, at least a little bit. They can’t run the football at all!” Sal said.
“If Rodgers is close to this...the Jets are toast. I’m not saying he’s gonna throw three interceptions every game, but if he plays close to how he did on Sunday...they have no chance.”
