BT convinced Aaron Rodgers will be 'a star' for Jets after watching Week 1 performance
BT was frustrated with the Jets loss on Monday, particularly with how the defense was pushed around by the 49ers and backup running Jordan Mason, but his main takeaway was that Aaron Rodgers can still be his star self at 40 years old.
“Aaron Rodgers still has it. That’s the bottom line,” BT said. “Aaron Rodgers is gonna be a star this year. I believe that.”
The biggest question for the Jets in 2024 was what they would get from Rodgers, who is in the final years of his career and coming off major surgery. He didn’t fill the stat sheet on Monday night, throwing for under 200 yards and one touchdown, but BT saw enough to be convinced that Rodgers will be at his best this season, which changes everything for Gang Green.
“The first thing you had to see this year is if Rodgers can still move, can he still sling it, and can he still manipulate the line of scrimmage,” BT said. “The answer is yes, yes, and yes.
“Yeah, they got knocked around a little bit last night and that bothered me, but Aaron Rodgers can still play, and that’s mission No. 1.”
