BT has hope: Why can't these Jets be like 2024 Mets?

The Jets mounted a second-half comeback to beat the shorthanded Texans on Thursday night, ending a five-game losing streak while showing flashes of what the team can be when they are at their best.

Aaron Rodgers looked younger than in recent weeks, and his connection with Garrett Wilson looked better than it has at any point this season. With the way the second half unfolded, BT says it’s fair to wonder if Gang Green can take that win and run off a hot streak that gets them to an improbable playoff berth.

“Why can’t the 2024 Jets be the 2024 Mets? Why not?” BT said. “I know the difference coming in was that nobody thought the Mets would do much because they didn’t have a great roster on paper, and the opposite for the Jets, coming in with a ‘loaded’ roster.

“I’m a little sucked in. I’m not gonna lie to you. Rodgers had three touchdowns, Wilson had a sick one-handed catch...and they had eight sacks.”

BT acknowledges that the Jets would need some help, and there is still a good chance that it ends in nothing, but looking at the matchups, there is a path towards the playoffs if New York takes care of the teams it’s supposed to beat.

“I went to the standings...it’s a very muddled AFC, who the hell knows what happens,” BT said. “But if the Jets go 6-2 - and this is where they got a shot - they’re 9-8. They’re at Arizona, then they host the Colts, then a bye, then they have Seattle at home...I think in all those games, they might be favored. You can’t win three games there?

“The numbers are the numbers, and the paths aren’t always conventional...I’m gonna lean into it.”
