BT says Jets could have Top 10 offense, defense, AND special teams, predicts 12-5 record

The Haason Reddick trade situation is hovering over the Jets, because it seems the franchise needs a perennial black cloud, but as much as Gang Green looks like they can be a force, one of our hosts understands Reddick and others’ importance to the team’s success this season.

“Joe Douglas and the Jets could say, well, look, we don’t need the player but we’re not going to give him what he wants and we’ll be fine without him, but they traded for him for a reason, and the Jets are going to go as far as their defense takes them,” Sal Licata said Friday. “Now, I'm not trying to disrespect Aaron Rodgers of the offense, because do believe in him and do think the Jets offense is going to be good, but it’s not going to be one of the best in the AFC, and it's not gonna be the reason that the Jets get to the Super Bowl or go far in the playoffs. It’s because their defense is better than everybody else. They don’t have an offense that will be better than the best offenses, but they do have a defense that can be the best defense in the NFL – but to be that, they need Reddick. His impact is not insignificant.”

BT tends to agree, even if he thinks ‘Reddick thinks he has juice, but he has no leverage’ – but he’s a little more bullish on the offense.

“The defense should be better than the offense, but I think that the Jets defense, factoring in Reddick playing at some point, I think the Jets’ defense has a chance to be Top 3, and I think the offense has a chance to be at the back end of Top 10,” BT said. “How many teams in the NFL have both a Top 10 offense and defense?”

But when Sal compared the Jets to Miami and Buffalo…BT busted out a thought that Gang Green could go 12-5 and be better than the Bills?

“The Jets are better than Buffalo; they beat them opening night last year, and not only has Buffalo lost Stefan Diggs, they just lost their best linebacker, Matt Milano,” BT said. “I don’t think Aaron Rodgers is a better quarterback than Josh Allen, but the Jets are a better roster. I’m not saying the Bills are gonna go 5-12, but I think the Jets are gonna average 24-25 points a game, and if Reddick suits up, I think the Jets probably go 12-5.”
