BT has plenty of frustration when it comes to Zach Wilson, but he is also near an end with Robert Saleh as head coach.
After getting outclassed by Doug Pederson on Thursday night, with his team coming out collectively flat in a must-win game, BT says it’s time for Robert Saleh’s seat to start heating up.
“There’s a chance Robert Saleh can be good. There’s also a chance that he’s not,” BT said. “He’s not trash. He’s not [Adam] Gase…but we’ve talked about this all year. ‘The Jets roster is so good, the Jets are ready to win.’ I don’t really disagree. So it’s because of that, I don’t know if I can take the chance going into year three without really knowing.”
What does BT suggest? Well, there is a certain high profile coach that could come out of retirement given the right opportunity…
“What I’m doing, I’m calling Sean Payton, and I’m pretty sure Sean Payton wants no part of this,” BT said. “I get it. But I need to make that call and see if there’s a modicum of interest, and if there is, then I’m going to see what the next step could be. I’m making that call.”
Saleh has guided the Jets to one of their most promising seasons in recent memory, but it has all come crashing down over the last month, and missteps in coaching have been a culprit in many of these recent losses. So BT says it’s time to assess if Saleh is the right coach to continue the Jets through this rebuild.
“These last couple of games were beyond alarming,” BT said. “The timeout stuff? He’s not a rookie coach, this is year two. This is deep into year two. He took ownership, I’ll give him credit, but that should never happen. Is that gonna happen with Daboll? Is that gonna happen down in Miami? The answer is no.”
