BT mainly pointed the finger at Robert Saleh after reading The Athletic’s detailed report about the Jets’ dysfunction this season, but he also says Aaron Rodgers deserves criticism for how things went in 2023.
According to the report, Rodgers went dark on Wilson after Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury and Wilson took over the starting role, when he was expected to spend the year helping Wilson rediscover the potential that made him a No. 2 overall pick. BT wasn’t happy with that realization at all.
“He apparently wasn’t nearly as present for Zach Wilson as it was positioned,” BT said. “Zach basically said he didn’t hear from the guy for a while. That’s good. Nice. Way to assume that mantle of leadership, Aaron.
“I guess all the nonsense about ‘I love Zach, he’s a great kid,’ then you go down and basically desert him. You ghost him. Fantastic. What a friend.”
When Rodgers was making weekly waves on the Pat McAfee Show, BT called for the Jets to publicly call out their quarterback for creating discourse around the team. This report was another demerit for the future Hall of Famer, who doesn’t seem to be bringing the organization into a level of respectability like many expected him to do.
“They’re worse than I thought,” BT said. “What’s terrifying to me is, I don’t know how you rectify this.”
