Joe Douglas talked with reporters at the NFL Combine on Wednesday, touching on topics like Mecole Hardman’s scathing comments about the Jets culture, Zach Wilson bring granted permission to find a trade, and where the team is ahead of the draft.
Nothing the Jets GM said seemed to strike much inspiration in BT, who ripped Douglas’ comments after the press conference aired live on WFAN.
“That was just pathetic,” BT said. “I thought he was really soft on the Hardman stuff…a little more bite, pushback, conviction, and defense, a little more refuting maybe.”
As opposed to his comments praising where the Jets are ahead of the draft, or Alijah Vera-Tucker’s versatility along the offensive line, BT wasn’t buying any of it.
“When he said ‘I like the situation that we’re in,’ it’s the worst situation in football,” BT said. “You have the worst head coach in football, a 41-year-old quarterback on one foot, and no offensive line.”
BT understands that it would have been hard for Douglas to say anything that would ease the minds of Jets fans given how the past few seasons have gone, but he was certainly expecting better than what he heard.
“Just the optics, the audible optics of that, it just seemed leaderless,” BT said. “It seemed rudderless.
It seemed soft.”
