BT sounds off on 'awful owner' Woody Johnson': 'Has no idea what he's doing'

Woody Johnson told reporters on Tuesday that firing Robert Saleh was solely his decision, and BT says that it is the continuation of a bad owner taking the wheel and running his organization right off the road.

“The Jets are by far the worst-run franchise in our city, and it’s not particularly close. They are an absolute disaster,” BT said. “They are always desperate, and when you’re desperate, you do hasty things.

“The problem with the Jets….Woody is a mess. Woody is not getting enough heat here. We can bang on Saleh and Rodgers and Gase…but Woody Johnson is an awful owner. Woody Johnson has no idea what he’s doing, and he has no contacts throughout the NFL.”

While firing Saleh is a move BT would have made, the fact that Johnson did it seemingly without much input from members in the front office continues a trend of the owner taking control of big decisions, ones that BT believes he is not equipped to make.

“There is a reason why Gase was hired,” BT said. “Not because Woody had this conviction that he would be good, but because Peyton Manning said he would be a good hire. Peyton Manning knows nothing about the New York market. He’s a great player…but he had a biased opinion, Woody bought it, because he was probably a little bit of a star gazer at that point, and it came back to burn them.

“They’re an absolute broken mess, and it’s Woody’s team, so he is most culpable.”
