BT is not happy with the current state of the Jets, but he isn’t putting all of the blame on Zach Wilson.
In fact, he says there was still evidence that Wilson can succeed during Sunday’s frustrating loss to the Patriots.
“Not the day to get on the air and throw around the pompoms for No. 2, I got it,” BT said. “Didn’t turn the ball over yesterday…it’s not like the threw it 12 or 13 times.
“The one drive they let him play free and loose, he was actually really, really good.”
Sal couldn’t believe his ears, in fact laughing in response to BT giving some kudos to Wilson after throwing for 157 yards and struggling to get the offense moving at all in the fourth quarter, despite the Patriots giving Gang Green endless opportunities at a game-winning drive. But BT stood his ground.
“Nobody wants to hear this. I understand that,” BT said. “At some point, stop leaning on the porous offensive line, the lack of weapons getting open…but those things are applicable to a young quarterback who you have ruined. You have never, ever given him a chance to do well.
“The most success they had was when they let him throw it, and he went 7-9 for 85 yards.”
