Sal Licata made it clear that he wasn’t a fan of Aaron Glenn becoming the next Jets head coach, but amid reports that the Lions defensive coordinator is New York’s top choice, BT is all in on the likely hire.
“You have to transform a building from a losing mentality...they don’t know how not to lose,” BT said. “To me, that is the biggest characteristic that Aaron Glenn is gonna bring to the building. I think he’s gonna be a man that’s respected.
“He’s gonna have influence. I think he’s gonna be the kind of guy who has his fingerprints all over the building, and I don’t remember the last time we had that.”
Glenn would be coming from a Detroit team that has done a lot of winning over the past two seasons, despite their early playoff exit this year, and despite being another coordinator with no head coaching experience, BT believes the Jets would be hiring a candidate with the right personality to change the culture in the locker room, and hopefully, the results on the field will follow.
“It’s not the optimal direction...I understand why there’s pushback,” BT said. “But I cannot for one second envision Aaron Glenn getting pushed around. I can’t.
“I love the hire if it comes to it. I’ve said Aaron Glenn for weeks.”
