BT's Jets plan for 2025 includes Daniel Jones at quarterback, trading Sauce Gardner

Brandon Tierney made it clear at the start of Thursday’s show that he is done with Aaron Rodgers as the Jets starting quarterback, and he would move on at the end of this season.

But, move on to what? BT has a plan, and it includes bringing in a quarterback who wouldn’t have to travel from very far.

“I know that sounds insane, but Daniel Jones is not drafted by the Jets and not making big money from the jets because that’s the Giants problem,” BT said. “At least I know he comes in, let him take some hits, let him hold the bag for the kid, and go from there.

“That’s actually my plan.”

Jones is in danger of being benched by the 2-8 Giants, and could be benched for the rest of the season if Big Blue decides it is too risky to endanger the injury guarantee in Jones’ contract. Big Blue has an escape hatch in Jones’ contract after this season, so there is a good chance he is done with the Giants after this season. BT would rather bring him in next year and draft a quarterback in the top 10 to play behind Jones for a year, as he doesn’t expect next year to have much success for Gang Green anyway.

“I would rather start the process of getting to the point of winning a Super Bowl,” BT said. “And to me, that includes drafting and surrounding that young quarterback that is not disillusioned as to who he is.”

What other moves would BT make? He would start by trading some youngsters that were initially expected to be part of the team’s core for years to come, and would prioritize signing Garrett Wilson to a multi-year deal while putting together the next leadership structure with a new head coach and GM.

“I would trade ‘Soft’ Gardner…I would trade Vera-Tucker,” BT said. “I am comfortable with what I believe would get the Jets closer to winning a Super Bowl.”
