Evan was in the building for the “Fail Mary,” the “Hell Mary,” or whatever name you would like to use for the Jets’ Hail Mary attempt turning into a 99-yard pick six on Thanksgiving.
He still wasn’t over it by Monday morning, and says it is light years worse than another infamous play that happened on a Thanksgiving day.
“This franchise, they find a way on holidays, on Monday nights, on Thursday nights, in front of the entire world, to make a mockery of themselves and us,” Evan said. “This is worse than the Butt Fumble. It’s not even close. It’s not even on the same stratosphere.
“When the Butt Fumble occurred, the Jets were down 14-0, and they were dead…on Friday afternoon at that dump known as MetLife Stadium, Brandin Echols delivered a gift from the Gods with that pick six of Tua…but what that return did was take a game that was close, and a game you had momentum in, and you kicked us all collectively in the groin. That’s why it’s different. Far worse, this play.”
