As Robert Saleh and the Jets continue to dig themselves in on their Zach Wilson backing, C-Mac says the relentless show of support simply shows that the team no longer cares about wins this season.
“They are allowing this season to die, and now, they’re doing it with a smile on their face, and telling us that it’s not nearly as bad as we think, when we’re watching the games,” C-Mac said. “It doesn’t matter that the offense doesn’t function. It doesn’t matter that he can’t complete a pass…this is not my son’s soccer league. This is the NFL. As long as he’s improving? Improving to what level?”
Still, despite the team losing consecutive games with Wilson as a starter after he was benched twice last season, the Jets says the former No. 2 pick is the “unquestioned quarterback” moving forward. C-Mac can’t take that response any other way than proof that the Jets are prioritizing development over wins in a year that began with Super Bowl aspirations.
“I don’t care if he has a better disposition than last year,” C-Mac said. “I don’t care if he is walking around with a little more pep in his step…what is he doing for you on Sundays and Mondays and Thursdays? He’s losing football games.”
