C-Mac: Jets have arrived, but still need a new quarterback

The Jets, after an improbable win over the previously unbeaten Eagles on Sunday, are now 3-3 with a lighter schedule coming in the weeks ahead.

The defense picked off Jalen Hurts three times in the win, and continues to ball out in the second halves of games. Pieces seem to be coming together for Gang Green, but C-Mac says there is still one piece missing, and that is at quarterback, where Zach Wilson finished 19-33 with 186 yards.

“They win a game that now changes their season. The Jets are here,” C-Mac said. “Today was the ‘85 Bears…so many turnovers…but the story of the game was going to be the inability to turn those turnovers into points. The offense couldn’t do anything. Breece Hall wasn’t running the ball enough.

“[Wilson] looks completely different [from the beginning of the season], but still, you are seeing pedestrian quarterback play and a pedestrian offense.”

C-Mac wants to see the Jets bring in a more capable quarterback, especially now that the rest of the roster is showing that it is ready to contend. For now, the team can celebrate the fact that it pulled off a major upset that changes the course of its season.

“The Jets made all the plays defensively, especially in the second half,” C-Mac said. “They have turned their season around.”
