C-Mac: Jets showing formula to win games, make playoffs with Zach Wilson at quarterback

C-Mac saw a formula for success in the Jets win over the Broncos on Sunday, though that formula does have a clear ceiling.

Sure, Gang Green can rattle off some wins in the coming weeks as the schedule eases up, but despite some improvement from Zach Wilson, they shouldn’t be expected to beat the Eagles in Week 6.

“If this team can run the football and play defense the way they played at the end of the game…this formula of football for the Jets can win football games,” C-Mac said. “Zach Wilson can make throws when they have the run game, when they don’t need him to be the reason they win…run the football, make the throws.”

Wilson wasn’t asked to do much on Sunday, completing 19 of 26 passes for 199 yards and an interception, and C-Mac doesn’t see the Jets being able to ask much more of their quarterback. Still, thanks to the pieces around them, the season may not be doomed after all.

“The Jets have not found something in Zach Wilson…understand what you’re still looking at,” C-Mac said. “You’re looking at a team still trying to figure it out with a quarterback who looks like he’s finally playing with some level of competence, but not someone who can go out there and win you football games.

“This Jet team is capable of winning football games. The Jets are capable - dare I say it - of making the playoffs with Zach Wilson at quarterback.”
