C-Mac: Zach Wilson should take field for Robert Saleh

C-Mac couldn’t believe Zach Wilson would reportedly be reluctant to accept the starting job again with the Jets, especially when his head coach has potentially sacrificed his own job by sticking up for the failed No. 2 overall pick all season.

“It is going to say ‘Robert Saleh: Jet head coach, defender of Zach Wilson,’” C-Mac said of the headstone that will summarize Saleh’s time as head coach. “This coach has done nothing but defend this quarterback to the point where we don’t believe him…yet sure enough, when this press conference starts, he’s there in front of the media saying…’He didn’t say it to me, in fact he just stepped in my office and said he’s the man.’

“Nonsense! If he did, it’s because Aaron Rodgers told him to do so, and he went in there with his hands behind his back with his head down…we know the kid doesn’t want to play.”

So, not only should fellow NFL players be insulted by Wilson’s reluctance to play, but Saleh should too, considering he has always stood up publicly for Wilson, just as he continued to on Monday after the reports surfaced.

“This coach has done everything,” C-Mac said. “Are they the Jets? Yes they are. Have they put him in a position to be uber successful? No…but this kid has been handled with kid gloves from the beginning.”
