The Jets pulled off one of their most memorable wins of the last decade on Monday night, but C-Mac couldn’t help but see the win as a painful reminder of what could have been had Aaron Rodgers not gotten hurt.
“It immediately sucks all the juice out of the season,” C-Mac said. “Despite what happened in this game, the injury means so much more.
“They built this around this guy being here, and what he could make this team…you saw it for a brief moment. This team was built entirely on the belief of what he raises this team to be…All of that goes out the window four plays in.”
Rodgers went down, his season over, after just four snaps on Monday night, and the rest of the roster showed its prowess by taking down the three-time reigning division champion Bills. Breece Hall looked like a star out of the backfield, Garrett Wilson’s stardom grew with an incredible game-tying catch, and the defense forced four Josh Allen turnovers. But now, they don’t have a star quarterback to bring it all together.
“It almost makes it more frustrating…as remarkable a night that it was, at the end of it, I can’t help but think to myself, with Zach Wilson as your quarterback, you beat the Bills by the skin of your teeth,” C-Mac said. “What could have been with Aaron Rodgers? It could have been everything we hoped for.
“It could have been a Super Bowl team.”
