The news of the Aaron Rodgers trade broke while Craig and Evan were on the air, and it kicked off a celebratory mood as the Jets thrust themselves to a level they haven’t sniffed in recent memory.
“Aaron Rodgers, one of the great quarterbacks to ever play the game, is going to quarterback the New York Jets,” Evan said. “He is going to replace the cavalcade of garbage that we have watched at the position since basically Joe Namath.
“You have to take this gamble, because the Jets have a chance to win a Super Bowl.”
For Craig, it means New York is officially a bonafide contender next season.
“The New York Jets are now in the conversation for the 2024 Super Bowl!” Craig said. “How about that?”
That is not something Jets fans have been able to say for a long time, and while the fanbase had some concern that a deal for Rodgers would not get done, simply because they are used to suffering, that is now all out the window, and all that is left is anticipation for what’s to come.
“Our long, national nightmare,” Evan said. “Is over.”
