Craig: New team has entered Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes, could force Jets hand

The Jets still don’t have Aaron Rodgers, with many assuming that a deal will be done before the NFL Draft later this month.

But Craig says Gang Green better act fast, because there may be an emerging competitor for the future Hall of Famer’s services.

“Aaron Rodgers to the Jets is not a done deal and the wrinkle is this: there is another team now, and if the New York Jets don't pull this off soon, meaning like now, they're not getting them,” Craig said.

The Jets have been able to be patient in their pursuit of Rodgers so far, with most other teams having addressed their quarterback needs. But now, if there is another interested team, New York may face a dilemma: move quickly and sacrifice more than they were initially willing to give up, or risk disaster that results in entering the draft with Zach Wilson as the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart.

“Do the New York Jets now panic and try to get a deal done?” Craig said. “Do the New York Jets feel like they've got this locked up, and Green Bay's got no other options, and do they just wait it out and eventually get them at the price they want, or does Green Bay at some point go, ‘here's a deadline. We want this done. If you don't get it done, that's on you. We have options’?”
