Another ex-Jet with South Florida ties is taking his talents back to South Beach: the Dolphins have agreed to a one-year deal with wide receiver/kick returner Braxton Berrios, who was cut by the Jets when the new league year started.
Berrios, 27, was an All-Pro return man in 2021, averaging 30.4 yards per kick return and 13.4 yards per punt return, and he played a significant role in the Jets’ offense that year as well, amassing 46 catches for 431 yards for two touchdowns and adding two more scores on the ground.
He signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Jets after that, but struggled last year in both phases, averaging 23.1 and 11.4 yards on returns and offensively contributing 18 catches for 145 yards, 91 rushing yards, and two touchdowns.
Now, Berrios will return to Miami, where he starred as a receiver and returner for the University of Miami from 2014-17, and will be reunited with Mike White, who signed a two-year deal to be the Dolphins’ backup QB earlier this week.
