Evan & Tiki: Best part of Jets win is realization that it can get even better
Evan enjoyed his first Jets game as a season ticket holder, to say the least.
As Gang Green “whipped that New England ass,” Evan kicked his feet up and enjoyed the final minutes of a thorough beatdown of the Patriots, he felt no need to see the Jets get long-awaited payback on their division rival by running up the score in garbage time. The bludgeoning was already complete.
But what brought Evan the most pleasure and excitement was the realization that he could be watching an even better Jets’ team by the end of the season.
“It felt perfect. It felt beautiful,” Evan said. “You look at this, and you can envision it getting even better.
“As great as it was last night, it can get better than that. There is still something like a micro-centimeter off between Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson, and that will change.”
The Jets already looked leaps and bounds better than they did through their first two games of the season, though the Patriots are clearly an inferior opponent, and Evan believes those improvements will only continue, and New York will become even more dangerous.
“There was a football game in which, not even for a moment, were you nervous or scared...24-3 is not even a fair indicator of what that game was last night,” Evan said. “One of the things you have to do right is, when a mediocre to bad team comes in your building, you have to take their freaking souls...the Jets needed to take care of business and show that they can dominate, and they did.
“Jets fans, we’re very negative people. You can understand why we’re negative people...but it was such a complete, awesome effort. Granted, it was against a bad team, but it’s only Week 3, and each week, this team is getting better and better.”
Tiki is in full agreement, and believes that Rodgers is continuing to shake off the rust and get back to peak form, Mike Williams is looking more and more like a legit receiving threat, and even in the wake of Morgan Moses’ injury, the protection in front of Rodgers continues to look stable.
“This offensive line played really, really well,” Tiki said. “And how much better they can get is what’s exciting.”
