Evan & Tiki on board with Jets making 'no brainer' trade for Davante Adams

The Jets overshadowed their ugly loss to the Bills on Monday night by reportedly making a trade splash for Davante Adams on Tuesday morning, reuniting Aaron Rodgers with his favorite wide receiver target from his playing days in Green Bay.

The response was seemingly mixed among the fanbase, which has become irritated after the 2-4 start and the uneven play of Rodgers, and several other facets of the roster. But Evan says it was a move that wasn’t too punitive in terms of draft capital, and doesn’t have to be too punitive against the salary cap in the year to come, since Adams’ contract in the coming years isn’t guaranteed.

“I am able to compartmentalize. I’m able to be pissed off and worried about last night, but also say to you that this was absolutely a no-brainer,” Evan said. “The Jets are better because of this trade. I believe the Jets had to make this trade. So I keep my fingers crossed and ask the football Gods that please, pretty please, let this all work out.

“They go out and trade for an elite-level wide receiver. I’m not overly concerned about the compensation package...if it moves up to a second-round pick, that means amazing things happened for Davante Adams and the Jets, because one of the prerequisites is for the Jets to be in the AFC Championship game.”

Tiki is in full agreement, and says that while the Jets look disjointed on offense through six games, they are still only one game back of a Wild Card spot, and can absolutely reel off a couple wins in the coming weeks and change the outlook of their season, all while landing a star wide receiver armed with established chemistry with the quarterback.

“You should be excited if you’re a Jets fan, despite the disjointed nature of the Jets season so far,” Tiki said in response to the idea that the Adams trade is too late to save the season. “That’s ridiculous. The games are right in front of you to go out and win, and the Jets can do that.”

Evan also pushed back strongly against the idea that the deal is too late to have an impact, even if it isn’t a given that Adams will be enough to turn things around in this all-in season.

“So, I’m okay. Especially when you’re in this deep,” Evan said. “I’m not telling you it’s gonna be work...but when you’re in this deep, you have no other choice.

“The idea that ‘it’s too little too late,’ that is ridiculous!”
