Evan opened Monday’s show “annoyed” after listening to Robert Saleh’s comments on Monday, specifically his answer when asked if the 2024 season would be a failure if the Jets don’t make the playoffs.
Saleh’s response was, “I’ll never say that,” which really ticked off Evan.
“Instead of saying what needed to be said about the Jets in 2024, Robert Saleh showed no guts,” Evan said. “You’ll never say that? All you have to say is, ‘Yeah. In fact, that’s a dumb question. Of course it’s a failure.’ That’s the correct answer!”
Tiki assumed that Saleh and the current coaching staff would be gone if the upcoming season doesn’t result in a playoff berth, but that the coach likely doesn’t want to “put himself on the hot seat.” Evan says that hot seat already exists and everybody knows it, so the head coach should take a stance of accountability and give the easy answer.
“Then why can’t the coach say it?” Evan said. “Have some guts, and say what we already know. Of course it’s a failure if we don’t make the playoffs.”
