Safe to say Evan Roberts won’t be thrilled about Zach Wilson being named the starting quarterback again on Thursday night.
Evan made it clear that he is out on the No. 2 overall pick after Sunday’s loss, where Wilson showed more of the same frustrating decisions and inaccuracy that led to his benching earlier in the season.
“He sucks. I don’t want to hear it,” Evan said. “How bad is he? How many freaking open receivers did he miss? Want to count them?”
Craig tried to remind Evan that some poor clock management in the fourth quarter from Robert Saleh and the defense choking on the biggest play of the game played more of a factor in the loss than Wilson’s performance, but Evan wasn’t hearing any of it.
“Dude, he stinks,” Evan said. “Look in my eyes when I say this, because I don’t want to hear from anybody peddling this crap today. Zach Wilson stinks. He stinks.”
Wilson will be back under center on Thursday night with Mike White still cleared for contact, so Evan must not like Gang Green’s chances to keep their fading playoff hopes alive.
“He does some good things to distract you,” Evan said. “It’s like eye candy. There’s a could of backyard football plays…I also need him to make the basic play and not miss open receivers, which he did on that final drive.
“He makes so many stupid plays. He’s got great talent, great skill, but when it comes to football, he’s an idiot.”
