Back on Friday, Evan compared his relationship to the Jets defense like a “bad high school relationship,” where there is an emotional roller coaster and not much room for consistent trust.
After watching Gang Green’s defense stun Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, Evan is all the way in on this defensive group.
“All of a sudden, whether you want to or don’t want to, it’s time to acknowledge this Jets defense,” Evan said. “When push comes to shove, what do they do? They swallow you whole in the second half, and they make the great quarterback look ordinary.
“I’ve had my moments of questioning how good this defense is, so I’ll be the first to do it. I acknowledge that this defense is elite.”
Robert Saleh opened some eyes after Sunday’s win when declaring that his defense “embarrassed” each top quarterback they have faced so far this season, but Evan says Saleh is simply speaking the truth.
“Spot the lie, because they have embarrassed all of them,” Evan said. “Against Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes, against those three elite-level quarterbacks, eight interceptions and three touchdowns.”
